A good action movie is always a wierd craving to fill. It needs action, a pinch of humor, and the outline of a plot. The strange thing with this movie is the opening 10 minutes is one of the most action packed and plot filled of the movie. It was also some of the hardest to endure. I urge that if you are going to be late..not be to this movie. You miss any of this movie in the beginning and you'll really wish you hadn't! Clive Owen does a good job playing his character. I honestly couldn't really imagine anyone else playing his part and Jaime Foxx adds an element to the movie you aren't planning on. It's a movie that if you have a craving for an action movie you might want to see! I'm not sure it's worth the $14 in the theater but definately see it at the discount theater or add it to your netflix!

So I took a day off of my busy schedule and treated myself to a movie! My favorite theater is the $2.00 matinee and $3.00 night theater in Pasadena (Academy 6) It doesn't have the best popcorn and it's boasts $1.00 hotdogs :), but  it has however become my favorite hangout and one of the best and cheapest ways to catch a movie. It's cheaper than renting it and you still get the theater atmosphere!
I never got to see "PUBLIC ENEMIES" the movie designed around iconic gangster John Dillinger. The movie takes you through the rise and fall of  one of the first men to be listed as a Public Enemy. It starts out with a jailbreak of his good friend and then follows all the way to the bank robberies and the high lifestyle of the glamourous ganster. It shows how he truly felt invincible and even once he was caught he never let on that he was nothing but extraordinary and would be out tomorrow. The most amazing thing to watch is the rise and fall, the cocky and the desperate and even at the most trying of times they still made him seem human and compassionate, but never not an overly  cocky criminal!
As soon as the movie was on  I was automatically not believing it was 1933. I have no idea but the time frame wasn't set for me! I have no idea why? I know they tried..from costumes, to authentic machinery, and cars..it was all there. I just wasn't. I kinda felt like they were in 2009 playing dress up at a costume party. It's a great movie though. I stayed interested the whole time and lately that's been an accomplishment in itself while watching a movie!  I have to say Johnny Depp as an american gangster was only something I finally bought into at the end of the movie and at times the girlfriend (oscar winner: Marion Cotillard)  I had a hard time understanding her with the french accent. To me the best and most entertaining performances were Billy Crudup as the famous J.Edgar Hoover and the amazing Peter Gerety as Dillingers over the top lawyer Louis Piquett. I can best sum up the experience and feel of the movie in a line Dillinger says to Billie after he asks her to go away with him: " I like baseball, movies, good clothes, whiskey, fast cars... and you. What else you need to know?
